The castle had a long history and played an important part during the war between Sweden and Denmark. Today, you can visit the castle area and go on guided tours or explore the place on your own.

Karmeliter Monastery
This monastery originates from the Middle Ages and is very well preserved. The monastery is located next to St. Mary’s church, and many people tend to visit both. The most of the inside of the monastery is preserved, and today still, it’s decorated in the same way as it was during the Middle Ages.
M/S Maritime Museum of Denmark
An excellent maritime museum for all ages. The museum is very interactive, and the exhibitions are presented in many different ways. The exhibits vary during the year and are shifting periodically.
Skibsklarerergaarden
Skibsklarerergaarden is an old shipowner’s house derived from 1600-1700’s. Although it has been renovated, they’ve still managed to preserve its charm and original appearance. Among other things, you can visit a small shop where sailors bought everything they possibly could need.
Helsingborg
Head over the strait Öresund to reach the cozy town Helsingborg in Sweden. Catch a Scandlines boat and, watch the sea view for 20 minutes and then you’re in a new country! Helsingborg is a beautiful city during the summer months. The boats between Helsingborg and Helsingør is visited by thousands of people every day.

Helsingør’s shopping street offers a great variety of shops. Blending new with old shops, with both traditional cheese stores, and modern interior design shops.
Brostraede Is
Brostraede Is is a classic ice cream shop that has been around for over 90 years. Their specialty is the ice cream cone with a coconut cream ball on the top. Brostræde Ice is a classic attraction in Helsingør.
It’s located in a small alley straight up from the Scandlines boat terminal, just before reaching Stengaden shopping street. On the way to the shop, you’ll pass a flower shop and also the classic street kitchens selling Pølse.
Bakken
Not too far away from Helsingør lies Bakken, a great amusement park that offers fun for the whole family. Bakken is a traditional amusement park located in Klampenborg. This park can easily beach reached by train from Helsingør to Klampenborg.
