Are you traveling to Split? Here’s a list of our favorite attractions and the top 10 things to do in Split as a tourist!

Split is a great base to explore Southern Croatia, and from the port, you can easily go to the nearby islands. However, if you travel to Split for a weekend, it’s recommended to follow a Split itinerary to make the most out of your stay!

Old Split

Old Split is the oldest district in town and has a lot of exciting history and sites to explore. Here you can walk around and look at cool ruins, the tall bell tower, historic buildings and see Diocletian’s ancient Roman palaces. It’s very nice to stroll through the district’s narrow streets and look at old architecture, peeking in modern shops and eat a good meal at one of the old town’s restaurants.

You’ll find entertainment behind every corner with both shopping, attractions, and street performers showing off their talents. A trip to Split is not complete without having visited the old town at least once.

Marjan

To get up to Marjan, you have to either hike or go there by train. Once at the top of the park awaits a peaceful and harmonious environment that makes you relax while enjoying the breathtaking view of Split.

Hvar

Hvar is one of Croatia’s most popular destinations, and every year this island is visited by both party people, sun seekers, and those who just enjoy life. On Hvar, there are several excellent beaches, both quiet ones and beaches with more action, day parties and beach clubs. Hvar is incredibly beautiful and offers something that suits all ages and interests.

One of the best things to do in Split!

Split Cathedral

The Cathedral of Split is a beautiful Cathedral. The cathedral is a quiet and nice place where you can sit inside in the cool temperature and enjoy the beautiful architecture, the incredible sculptures, and art that covers the walls. At the front of the church, there’s a bell tower that you can climb in you pay a small fee. Up to the top of the tower, you’ll have to climb several steep steps, but you will also be rewarded with stunning views over the rooftops and the sea.

Split Walking Tour

If you want to get some orientation and information about the city before starting to explore it on your own, then you should follow along on a Split Walking Tour. These guided tours will take you to the city’s best attractions, and a great plus is that they’re both informative, educational and fun! These experienced guides love their job and are very helpful and happy to share handy tips for a successful stay.

Riva Harbor

The port of Split is a beautiful place where there’s always hustle and bustle. Here you are met by several market stalls, cozy cafes, restaurants and a beautiful view of the sea and the harbor with all its bobbing boats. The best time to visit this place is during the afternoon, when it’s perfect to stroll around without getting sweaty, but also because the sun magically lights up the ruins located near the palace.

Red Adventures Croatia

If you feel like a real Adventure day in Split, then you should book an excursion with Red Adventures Croatia. The company offers a variety of day trips both at sea and around the city, such as canoeing, kayaking, climbing, snorkeling, hiking, and cycling. We highly recommend trying out on any of these tours to experience Croatia’s beautiful nature from a different perspective.

If you like to be adventurous, then this is one of the best things to do in Split for you!

Parco Nazionale Krka

If you want to get away from the crowds and the hectic city life and unwind for a while, then you can always visit the National Park. Parco Nazionale Krka is a beautiful park with a lot of cool waterfalls. Come and walk among nature and animals or take a dip in the healthy fresh water at the waterfalls.

This is no doubt one of the best things to do in Split, and in the whole country!

Dvor Restaurant

Live music, sea views, a flawless service, and food of the highest quality – much more of a restaurant can’t be demanded. Dvor is one of Split’s coziest and best restaurants that serve delicious dishes and wines in a romantic environment. One tip is to test their tasting menu for the best dining experience and to book a table in advance during high season.

Brela Beach

Brela Beach is one of Split’s best nearby beaches. Brela Beach is a beautiful beach with crystal clear waters that are lined with beautiful cliffs along the coast. It’s easy to get from Split to Brela Beach, both by car and bus. If you want to go there by bus, you just go to the bus station and hop on the bus towards Makarska.
