The capital of India is one of the best places to visit in Northern India<\/a>, and it will give you an intense cultural introduction to the country and its long history. New Delhi has something for every budget and you can find everything from backpacker accommodation to luxury hotels. There are even free things to do in Delhi<\/a> as a tourist. <\/p>\n

Swaminarayan Akshardham<\/h2>\n

Akshardham is a modern temple that was built in 2005. The temple is magnificent with almost ridiculously many details and decorations. Good to know is that you are not allowed to bring anything in, which is a shame as you can’t take pictures inside. The security system works well, and there is no danger to leave your valuables. Akshardham temple is definitely a must place to visit when you are in New Delhi.<\/p>\n

Gurudwara Bangla Sahib<\/h2>\n

Gurudwara Bangla Sahib is a friendly and welcoming temple with a harmonious atmosphere. Here, no one asks you for money, donating or something similar. Don’t miss to go into the temple and listen to when a Sikh band plays drums and sings.<\/p>\n

A large public park in New Delhi that offers a nice nature, but also several historic buildings and ancient statues. Lodi Gardens is one of our favorite places in New Delhi and is well worth a visit.<\/p>\n

Gandhi Smriti<\/h2>\n

Gandhi’s and was one of India’s most famous people. Gandhi Smriti is his grave and memorial place where you get the chance to learn more about Gandhi and also pay homage.<\/p>\n

Indian Food Tour<\/h2>\n

India has a rich food culture and eating many dishes that we in Sweden have not even heard of. Therefore, it may be a good idea to go on a guided food tour when visiting New Delhi. There is namely a large and varied selection of street food in Delhi<\/a>, and without expert help, it’s too easy to miss to try all the good food that India has to offer. Moreover, one is guaranteed an authentic experience and food from great and hygienic restaurants.<\/p>\n

Bahai Lotus Temple<\/h2>\n

This temple is not the most popular temple in New Delhi, but oh so beautiful it is! Bahai Lotus Temple is shaped like a lotus flower and is truly a masterpiece. Those interested in architecture and cool buildings should go to the Bahai Lotus Temple without a doubt.<\/p>\n

National Museum of India<\/h2>\n

India’s National Museum tells and showcases the history of India in the best possible way. Here you can see the relics, statues and much more that originated far back in time, but also the new and modern India and everything in between. A visit to the National Museum in New Delhi is a must if you are interested in learning more about India.<\/p>\n

Jama Masjid<\/h2>\n

This mosque was built during the Islamic Mughal empire. During this time, they built a number of historic buildings and temples. Jama Masjid is located to the right of Chawri Bazaar and New Delhi’s largest mosque. One thing that can be good to know is that it is free to enter the mosque, however, if you want to take pictures, it costs 300 rupees. Don’t want to take any photos? Then, just ignore people trying to get you to pay 300 rupees.<\/p>\n

Dilli Haat<\/h2>\n

Dilli Haat is a craft area where you can shop for some of the best things to buy in India<\/a> and sew clothes. Unlike Chandni Nagar & Chawri Bazaar, Dilli Haat is a quiet place. The atmosphere is friendly and more relaxed. This is a great place to shop for souvenirs and local crafts as well as trying some authentic dishes from all over India.<\/p>\n

Chandni Chowk and Chawri Bazar<\/h2>\n

If you like food, this is the place for you; here you will namely find hundreds of food stalls and restaurants serving Indian and Asian food. Prices are low, and the supply is large and varied. Other than that there are also good opportunities for shopping bargains.<\/p>\n
